TMSA / PPIU Update and Map | North-South Corridor Aid-for-Trade Road Projects October 2012 In 2009, the Tripartite RECs launched a pilot transport corridor programme, the North-South Corridor Aid-for-Trade Programme, spanning 8 countries , 3 RECs and a total of 10,647 km of road. The NSC Aid-for-Trade road network includes the road corridors defined by SADC as the North-South Corridor (NSC), the Dar es Salaam Corridor and segments of the Trans Kalahari Corridor and Nacala Corridors. The Effect of Climate Change on Plant & Animal Health and Trade December 2011 The effects of climate change on the risks and patterns of plant and animal health, pest and disease dispersal is potentially huge and largely unanticipated. These effects include the direct consequences of emerging pests and diseases as well as indirect risks to agricultural productivity and trade. These policy briefs were commissioned by TMSA, in support of the COMESA-EAC-SADC Tripartite's work on trade facilitation, for a side event of the COP17 Climate Change Conference in Durban 2011, on Climate Resilient Agriculture. |

Final Report | Improving the Management of Aflotoxins in the Groundnut Supply of Malawi October 2011 The project, namely Improving the Management of Aflotoxins in the Groundnut Supply of Malawi, was designed to build the national capacity for aflatoxin control and management in groundnuts with an overall goal of reducing levels of aflatoxins in commodities. Expected in the long term (beyond the project cycle), was an increase in incomes earned by groundnut farmers, improved international market access and reduction in the public health risks associated with the consumption of commodities contaminated with aflatoxin. |

Final Report | Promoting Market Access for Fishery Products from the SADC Region through Fishery Certification September 2011 In 2004 seafood exports from the SADC countries were worth US$1,099 million. Due to an increase in competition, however, they dropped to about US$ 721 million in 2008. Currently, the challenge for the fisheries sector is the need to comply not only with the sanitary requirements of their trading partners but also to satisfy the increasingly demanding consumer in importing countries that they conform to the best international practices for sustainable fishing. |

Consultative Workshops on the EAC-COMESA-SADC Tripartite Free Trade Area | March 2011 March 2011 Trademark Southern Africa (TMSA) have held consultative workshops on the COMESA-EAC-SADC Tripartite Free Trade Area (FTA) in Blantyre, Malawi on 24 - 25 March, and in Mahe, Seychelles on 28th April. The consultative workshops addressed the rationale, scope, coverage and timing of the Tripartite FTA, as well as a number of related issues such as tariff liberalisation, FTA negotiating modalities and Rules of Origin for the Tripartite FTA. |
